1st half... had some bad string of block dice in the first 3 turns... but nothing bad happened. I did get out of position really soon. But my important pieces survived the fouling. So I can't complain.
Think the only mistake my opponent made, was fouling in turn 7 first half, and leaving his ball carier pretty much open for a blitz. The blitz ended in a miss click... and a rerolled 1d. Then the ball went out. The fanst decided to throw it to my endzone. It went out again... fans decided to throw it back where most our guys were. Randomness could have twarted a lot of stuff here, but it was more of a "non-bad" , "non good" position for my opponent. The miss click did take away a square, so I couldn't gamble on a pick up. And just put a TZ on the ball.
Opponent blitzed my guy away, picked it up with a hobo, did a hand off to another hobgoblin and made the score.
Second half... I kinda just played a conservative drive... maximilised blocks (with guard back up). The casuatlies in this game were pretty brutal on both sides. Loosing my bull centaur was a painfull thing. But it wasnt worth saving at that moment. My opponent lost a lot of good pieces, and did what I wanted to do. Take the apo on a BH. After that the AG4 bull went off, and it looked good for my side. My team scored and we were going for over time.
My opponent won the coin toss... and both the KOs returned to the game. He was still heavily outnumbered. My guarders could tangle him up easily. And we pushed him towards the side line. Then... I made the descision to make 1 greedy roll. Something I regret because it didn't work out. And because I could have played it more safely.
I blitzed my opponents bull centaur with a GFI + -2D Blitz. Instead of just pinning him with a dorf. I was just hoping to get him out (since he was next to the sideline). And I had a good chance of not getting a turn over (cause I had a reroll left).
If I calculate correctly... it's a 85,67 percent chance of not getting a turn over. And my dorf just being in place. And a 63,78 percent of getting my opponents bull centaur off. Not to bad... but it failed. And the drama that folowed was way worst.
I made like the worst decision of pushing the bull centaur 1 square to the front. In my turn 4 of overtime. Giving him an opportunity that I don't believe I should have ever given. I should have just stand up with the dworf, and tried the blitz with my star bull centaur. I had this crazy idea that this blitz would be better... but after revieuwing it, it was just terrible.
I could have pushed diffrently and not giving away that option to score. But I didn't, after the bad choice, I made another one by not pushing my own hobgoblin away... And I got punished for it. One big brainfart, and it was all gone. 1D block and a 4+ dodge with 3x GFI , not having a reroll except for the GFI with sure feet... resulted in our downfall.
Was this bad luck? Not at all. But loosing in that position did feel bad. But I only have myself to blame. Live and learn I guess.
Opponent played well. Was a good game, I just kinda gave it away at the end, just a really bad play. Wish my opponent good luck in the next game.
