“PREMIER LEAGUE IV OPENING NIGHT
Two old foes squared off tonight with the Dragons hosting the Anvils on a beautiful Sunday evening at Mt Victorious in the opening match of SWL IV's Premier League Season.
With the Anvils winning the toss, they received the kickoff and marched up field with a wide front taking on the Norse linemen and their Ogre "The Big Blue". Despite an attempted flanking manoeveour by the Dragons, the Anvils tucked the ball into a tight formation and formed a cage just inside the Dragons half. It looked grim as many Norse had to leave the field with head knocks and the Anvils looked the goods for the early lead.
Then WOOSH! A fireball erupted right above the head of Dwalin and whilst he stood valiently against the flames, his cage went up in a puff of smoke! Dwarves everywhere were putting out their beards as the Dragon blitzers stormed the beleagured Dwalin and ripped the ball from his grasp.
Lapi Stoneman strode away with the ball, and whilst the cover defence tried in vain, the Dragons lead 1-0 and thats the way it stayed until half time.
The second half began with a Dragon possession and they immediately pressured the right flank of the Anvils. Ground was easy to make, but the Dragons kept dropping handoffs and passes and what should have been an easy TD, took an eternity. In the process, Bifur, star Blitzer for the Anvils was killed when Jen O'Lan piled onto the prone Bifur and impaled him. Even the Norse crowd mourned the noble warrior's passing.
But sanity prevailed and Heinrick Stormblade accepted a handoff and strolled in with a good portion of the second half done and the Dragons led 2-0.
The lead was then unassailable, so a mixture of survival and insane venting of anger was what the match degenerated into. The Dragons picked off an intercept and looked like scoring a 3rd TD. In addition, the Big Blue, bouyed by the impending victory stormed across the field and slammed Gloin down. Gloin too never recovered and died of his injuries.
At the end, the carnage was large for the Anvils with Oin also picking up a broken jaw and this will mean the Anvils will do it tough in the coming weeks.
For the Dragons, Stormblade picked up an injury, but are otherwise fit for their match with the Maniac Mammallians next week.

Bad luck Rennigeb, a tough match as expected, but you had at least 3 double skulls to my none and whilst my av7 pretty much collapsed, you had some shocking injury rolls. GL with the rest of the season.”
