The Meddlers won the coin toss and opted to receive, but were rewarded with a Blitz! on the kick-off. Wrong choice obviously. The Blitz! severely messed up our position, eventually resulting in a ball loss and 0-1. Luckily the elves managed a two-turner to even the score: 1-1 at halftime.
The Saplings received in the second half and moved forwards prudently but slowly. I decided to wait a little before moving in with the wardancer, when suddenly an opportunity for a relatively easy 1d on the ball presented itself (without even needing to leap). The ball popped free and a scramble started.
Skulls fell on both sides, but the Meddlers had to deal with two double skulls in separate turns. The first was caused by a loner, wasting the last team reroll and causing a painful turnover (badly hurting himself in the process). The second double skulls followed a failed 4+dodge by the Saplings, in what was supposed to be the game-winning turn 16 2d blitz requiring anything except... double skulls. Thank you Nuffle.
A theft right out of the wood elf playbook that wasn't one. And another game without victory for the Meddlers.
