We won the coin toss and received the opening kick. The ball went deep, we scrummed on the line for awhile and started to get a man advantege, when on turn 2, Broadway Joe Bryant dodged through a square screen to get a blitz on Fonoti, which yielded a push. We got free, but some more dodgy shenanigans and a Wrestle down by Darelle Clawvis saw Joe with the ball and a punt attempt, intercepted by W. Brown. We stunned Bryant and got clear with the ball, locking Clawvis in place. Clawvis turned over trying to blitz his way out of the lock, and we started gangfouling the Wrecks’ remaining Warriors, leading to a lot of knockouts. We handed off to Stephenson, and Stephenson walked it in. 1-0.
The second half saw the Wrecks cage up at midfield, attacking the south edge but not committing to either side of the pitch. We locked them out nicely on the north side, so they went south and caged up just across midfield. We pressed them hard, forced them to reposition back in their half, Anderson killed a Chosen Blocker, then Choto Klecko knocked Anderson out (after surviving several nasty fouls), and on turn 6, finally Broadway Joe started to turn the south corner. We couldn’t get in position in time, and on turn 8, Joe ran the ball in for a score.
In overtime, we lost the coin toss and had to kick. We scrummed at midfield for awhile, the scrum working its way slowly south as Broadway Joe had problems picking up the ball. We fought for awhile, until a hole opened on the south side for Broadway Joe to hand off to Brawn Ellis. Ellis couldn’t get into the open,so he punted. Williams recovered the ball, and handed off to Fonoti, who snaked the catch but the ball scattered back to him. He ran in the winning score on turn 8, despite some great dodging by the Wrecks’ Pain Chrebet to get pressure.”
