“Here we faced some skilled, shadowy High Elves. We recruited Lottabottol. An unusual Slann player lacking block but a strength 3 with some interesting skills that could be useful.
There was little damage caused today but there was a lot of back and forth with the ball. Steals, trips and drops and tomfoolery. The Saurii weren't hitting hard but the Elves did a lot more blocks.
An early Elf pass was surprisingly dropped which led to Santo picking up and breaking forward on his own. He was overcome but with another Elf pass attempt the interception was foiled (safe throw reroll) and the catcher caught but failed his dodge! Lottabottl could secure the ball in our half, managed to get through with support and scored. There was a lot of shadowing to get away from at times.
The Elves came back with a pass up the flank. Ultimatos couldn't blitz the catcher down and so we also put 2 skinks on him. Lottabottl could complete the wall to give a good chance to save the defence, especially with his diving tackle. But he did one dodge and was shadowed, and then fell! The catcher blitzed and dodged to score. 1-1.
2nd half Santo had the ball and we slowly advanced, getting a player up. But the Chess blitzer got him down and took the ball. After a takedown Santo regained it and did well with dodging and escaping shadowing. I had committed so many round the dropped ball so couldn't protect Santo well. He got further up field but the Monkey Catcher got at him late in the match and cas'd. Pintxos needed to dodge for a pickup attempt in TD range so I decided instead to blitz him clear with the tackle Saurus which in turn first needed a push by the Krox. But the Krox both down'd and loner failed! An Elf picked up and handed off forward. They then fouled Lottabottol so it was left to a skink to try and blitz the carrier down. He couldn't come up with the both down or better on -2db. So we went down 2-1 after hoping to go up 2-1. Disappointing result but great match.”
