“The match started with the customary orc cage advancing slowly towards the last turn touchdown. The rats tried some crazy blocks to stop it, specially the brave H.P. Lovecraft, but the orc's leader Hogga Da Lugga was too strong a player, and the orcs too well organized. Pushing the captain Sprague de Camp to the crowd, Hogga Da Lugga scored the 0-1 in a nice blitz. The rats tried with a late second counter-attack, but it was impossible, for a still dizzy from the crowd punches Sprague, to reach the touchdown line.

The second half started with again Sprague de Camp, this time failing an easy pass to the team's thrower Ray Cummings. Was this going to be the worst day in the captain's short career? No! Sprague picked up the ball and made a quick pass for the sneaky H.P. Lovecraft, who, dodging some orcs, scored the 1-1.

Yet another orc cage was made at the center of the pitch, but this time the heroic efforts of the rats opened a hole for the brave rookie Peter Cannon to pow the ball carrier. Sprague de Camp (who else?) picked up the loose ball and ran to score the 2-1, while Cannon wrestled with a black orc to buy the captain the necessary time.
