“Peasants vs Peasants...could it be another game but a head to head blocking contest? Not often and this was not an exception. The Antirians started with the ball and United Pawn's hoped to have as many plyers as possible still standing after the first round...the QS result on kickoff was not what the Pawn's wished for. Not a great first blocking round though from the Antirians...first game nervousness I assume...and the Pawn's had some players still up and running.
After a few failed tries to pick up the ball from AP the UP's thought it was their turn to have a go. Mike Miller got the ball, made it a few steps closer to the EZ...then was stopped by a successful 1-d block. Another attempt...Robert Rye managed to pickup the ball just to get knocked over with a 1-d block next turn. The Pawn's 3rd attempt ended with the same result and the score in halftime was 0-0.
The Pawns was surprised by the aggressive, blitzing, start from the Antirians. A hard battle in midfield begun...and after a few turns UP started to get the upperhand of it and Hank Harrow, with the ball, begun a long journey towards Antirians endzone. The rest of the Pawn's made their best to keep his path free from opponents and what an effort...they made it but in the struggle Barney Barley bites the dust...and won't ever stand up again. Hank made it all they way and 1-0 was a fact.
UP's fans was so excited by the game and the word spread throughout the county. Some landlords actually told their workers that they may have half day off when UP play their next game so they can go see it.
Thanks for the game mrCloud. It was a fast, ferocious and fun game. Good luck in your next games.”
