Welcome sports aficionados and Creekmoor.

It was Donaldo 4 The Critters 1. Which made a mockery of so called "pundit" Creekmoor's pre-match prediction...

"This pundit has seen the Critters at their training ground. Believe me, this team will have three points by the end of today"

Officials will be looking at scheduling again as the late kick off meant copious amounts of ale had been consumed which contributed to a riot breaking out at kick off. One or two Critters succumbed to the crowd which left a small gap in the line. This was ruthlessly exploited by Donaldo who broke through into the cavernous space left behind the Critters' front line. The classic elf set up of deep man to pick up and hand over to thrower followed by laser like accurate throw from Hailsham set up the easiest of first touchdowns for the main man.

The second touchdown was impressive with Appleton bursting between two weak tackles and hitting the perfect pass to ... who was it now... oh yes Donaldo. He sprinted down into the corner and celebrated in front of the now ecstatic Rovers fans.

The third Donaldo touchdown saw an amazing intervention by the groundsman who complained Donaldo was ruining the turf in the corner of the pitch by running the same diagonal into the corner over and over again. He had more to come as Donaldo broke free of his markers, blitzed the hapless Lobber, and then ... is there no end to this elf's skills ... caught the ball as it squirted out of the dazed Lobber's paws. Cue more turf damage in the corner.

Incredibly, despite 4 touchdowns, fracturing Sly's arm (putting him out of the next match), throwing the third most blocks in the match and rushing 36 yards he was not given elf of the match. In an award more questionable than Maradonna's Fair Play award at the Mexico World Cup that honor went to Hailsham, possibly for the selfless way he set up two of Donaldo's scores.

Back to that training pitch for Creekmoor and his Critters.

#5 Sly – Fractured Arm (MNG)
ROVERS WIN MARRED BY CONTROVERSY

Blood Bowl is a rough old game. It's not called Blood Bowl for nothing. There are big hits, awful injuries, nasty fouls and generally dirty play. It's part of the game - it's what we all expect, and love.

What no-one wants to see, not even the most die-hard Blood Bowl thug, is bribery and corruption. But, sad to report, at the new but already incredibly popular Blood Bowl Wednesday match this week, that is exactly what we saw.

It wasn't a great turn out, and that seems to have helped Camp Hepworthnot. Reports are that Rovers staff 'mingled' with fans before the kick off, plying them with free, very rough grog and bribing them with gold pieces and free tickets to Renaissance Cup matches. Bribing them to do what?

Well, there are first and secondhand reports from Rovers and Critters fans alike that they were encouraged to stage a pitch invasion at the start of the match, and to target the Critters players. And that's exactly what they did, mercilessly. It was awful to watch. Before the ref had even put his whistle to his lips to start the match, fans were running on to the gridiron in a drink-fuelled frenzy, and were heading straight for the Critters players. Before anyone new what was happening, four Critters were on the grass, stunned.

Accusations of bribery and corruption have, of course, been strongly denied by Rusland staff. Like the dreadful buffet in the Rovers clubhouse after the match, the incident has left a very bad taste in this pundit's mouth. It is very sad that an otherwise commendable performance by the pre-match underdogs will forever be marred by what happened here on Wednesday night.

Such a shame.
