“This was a very balanced game and enjoyed by the crowd. Most things were good in the game except the kicking. The Jokers got a kick back first thing and caged up. They gradually moved up the pitch but the elves blocked well. The Jokers armour had not been fitted greatly and things started to look bad. Lucky Micky Flanagan used some quick thinking, made a dash and handed off to Joe, who ran in for a score. The Jokers, boosted by a few players waking up, held off for the rest of the half and kept the score as 1-0.
Second half started with another bad kick and a touch back for the Union. There was some quick elf play and a quick score. The only issue was Laddy who got pushed into the crowd; who gave him a good kicking and smashed his hip.
The last play started and another bad kick put the ball straight into Paddy McGuinness hand. Being a lineman he was not used to this roll and ran to hide in a bunch of his own players. A rough cage was formed and moved up the field. The Union made a desperate cage break attempt but could not knock Paddy down. He slipped out the cage with a screen of players guarding his run. He scored with seconds to go and thus winning the game.
When Paddy was asked for his comment afterwards he said "No likey, no lighty"”
