Good Afternoon sportsfans! Lorenz Bootbaeur here live at the Sythril Stadium, home of the Beerbog Behemoths where the weather is perfect for an afternoon of Blood Bowl - slightly overcast and misty, but not a drop of rain - that's about as good as it gets in Albion! as I like to say! hahaha
We're here of course for the start of the Albion & Norsca regionals at the newly finished stadium, and I have to say I'm really pleased with this pitch and stands. As some of you may know, the Behemoth's first season home matches were played on a hastily marked cow paddock with spectators crowded up against the fence and unable to see much. The pitch was bumpy and the cows often left a suprise for anyone not looking carefully where they're stepping. Now I'm looking at some finely crafted stone bleachers with a seating capacity of around 30,000 human sized spectators not including the pixie "flutter-zone" ! The pitch is carefully tended and marked to the exacting requirements of the CIBBL rulebook.
Sythril Staduim of course is named after Ruarc Sythril, the first pixie to be killed on the pitch in their second match against Nurgle team Ecstasy in Decay. In an overeager attempt at a foul on downed rotter Maggotbooze he slipped on an errant cow-patty whilst sprinting and fell awkwardly jamming his own kneecap into his eyesocket. According to local historian Kaspar Hamhouse pixies naturally have extremely pointy kneecaps, something they used to devastating effect in wardances during the Great Pixie Wars. The Wars of course eradicated many a pixie clan on Albion and experts estimate that the number of pixies today is but a small fraction of what they were. Today in honour of Ruarc Sythril's sacrifice the Beerbog Behemoth's pixies will be wearing their special home jerseys and perform a new honour dance during the half-time show. Don't miss it!
Speaking of half-time, let's not forget our sponsors! Pop over to the beer stands and grab yourself a Gwoft Ale by Beerbog Breweries and after the match, sit in front of the hearth at the Two-Headed Dog Inn with a meal and the match highlights on Cabalvision Rewind™. Later on treat yourself to a hay ride through the historic Boora Bog and you just might get lucky and see a Fen Beast!
a roar erupts from the crowd
...Looks like our home favorites have taken the field accompanied by their theme song Thunderstruck. Oh boy the crowd is loving it as they sing along, stomp their feet and clap their hands in time. The giants lumber to their end-zone with the pixies playfully spinning, dancing and cart-wheeling between their legs. The clouds get into the action with a deep rumble, though that could also be their opponents wizard warming up for the match too! Thankfully the grounds-keeping team has prepared well for this and have kept several buckets of water handy in case of a fire - good thinking!
And here comes their opponent Ynys Morion Mabsantwyr - a young team but highly respected as they've gone largely undefeated in their first several matches - this should be a great match!
