“My passing game is improving - to the point where my thrower can throw 6 for 60, and the team can only make 6 for 58 at the same time!
Sadly, my winning game is no better than usual. Why is this? Well, many reasons.
The first one is that my opponents are all better than me. I think they must do stuff like pay attention to what's going on, or plan ahead, or not take unnecessary risks.
Second, I'm something of a one-trick pony right now. I pick-up the ball, keep it out of range of my opponent's players and then throw a long bomb to anyone who looks like they can score. When this works, it looks great. When it fails, the opposing team usually scores.
Third, I live in this little bubble of fantasy where none of my dice rolls fail. I never look at an action and think, hmm, that's a bit risky. What if I roll a double 1? I just tell myself there's only a one in thirty-six chance of rolling a double 1 so as long as I only do it thirty-five times, I'll be fine! (Honestly, I'm not really that stupid, it's just poetic license.)
Fourth, I'm lazy. So lazy.
Fifth - the list goes on, but I'm sure you get the idea.
So what happened here? The usual stuff. We both tried to score quickly, neither of us blocked much, no one got hurt. In the end it came down to me not being able to stop Ohwatch scoring both sides of half-time, so that I was forced to play catch-up for the second half. A draw was certainly a possibility, thanks to the fact that Ohwatch didn't stall and left me with a reasonable two turns for the final score, but I snaked my final two turns and Ohwatch POWed the blitz in-between.
I don't really mind - a draw would have been nice, but probably undeserved - and a win was never really on the cards. Still, it was another painless game and I'm now journeyman-free - so there goes another of my excuses for not being able to win. Now it has to be all the fault of the dice!”
