“An odd game, but I managed to scratch a win out of it, despite fielding five journeymen and no thrower.
It began with the dark elves receiving, and their very first act was a multiple stab from their assassin that stunned two front-line loners. Right, I thought. He has to go. So my first act was a blitz with my tree that seriously injured the assassin (after a typically useless failed apo).
The rest of the half was nowhere near as exciting as that. In fact, I can't even remember which of us scored or when, but I do remember knocking the ball away from the dark elves at one point and needing one of the loners to pick it up. First attempt he fumbled the pick-up. Second attempt he failed a dodge and then his loner, so despite my best efforts, the dark elves got the ball back and eventually scored.
I must have scored at some point as well, but I don't remember when, or how. It wasn't really a game for epic plays and daring scores, but was more a desperate scrabble around in the dirt for the ball after one or other of us lost it. There were some failed passes, a lot of knock-down blitzes, a fair bit of taking root, but somehow I managed to score twice more in the second half.

Anyway, the end result of all that bashing and being bashed is that I've got my thrower back, and I've finally bought myself that wardancer I've been promising myself. So apart from a lack of catchers we're starting to look like a proper team again, with only three journeymen. But of course the rating is creeping back up so no more easy games.
Are any of them easy? This one certainly wasn't.”
