Divine justice. My previous game was so one-sided in my favour, it was only fair this one went the other way. I rolled some seriously rubbish dice here - not all the time, but when it really mattered - and Vindicator punished me mercilessly every time it happened.

But it would be unfair to say the loss was all down to my bad dice. I made a couple of stupid plays along the way - and yes, if I'd rolled high, it would have been fine, but if I'd been playing better (or been a better player, perhaps) I might have made something of my opportunities. Vindicator, on the other hand, made a great deal of his opportunities and deserves the comfortable win he clearly had here.

We started off with the wood elves receiving and after a series of ineffective blocks along the front line, I went for the blitz to clear a path through the defence, only to be brought up short with a Skull/POW that kept the door firmly closed. Then I went for an easy pass to the catcher safely behind the treeman - who snaked the catch. The ball then bounced onto the tree (no, of course he didn't catch it) and off into the high elf side of the field.

That was my first mess up. There then followed five turns of careful high elf offence, which saw the ball make its way slowly and safely into my endzone. We did try to stop them, and there was a big mess of players over to one side of the field for a few turns, but the terrible wood elf blocking, combined with the careful placing of the high elf guard (and there was a lot of it) meant I wasn't able to do anything more than slow them down a bit.

Back on offence, I went back to doing what I do best - throwing passes. Two turns, two passes, and the second one allowed the catcher to sprint into the endzone - where he snaked the go for it and dropped the ball.

Again, Vindicator made sure I suffered by getting it from one end of the field to the other just as the whistle blew for the end of the first half.

And then he was on offence after the reset. Again, I did what I could on defence, and this time a rare spell of bad dice from the high elves left me in a good position to claim the loose ball. Which was where my second unforced error occurred. I needed to clear a little bit of space, so the tree blocked an unskilled lineman out of the way. Not satisfied with the double pushback, I used PRO to reroll it, and sure enough, rolled double skulls.

Needless to say, Vindicator did what he'd been doing all game - namely capitalising on my mistakes and scoring. This time, with three turns to go and no real chance of being to stop him, I kept my players back at a safe distance and blitzed with the loner a couple of times. He didn't stand a chance, but he was worth the sacrifice.

And then, finally, on the very last turn of the game, the tree killed a lineman (saved by the apo) and the thrower threw a long bomb. I don't know if that was a consolation prize or what, but a bit more of that earlier on would have been nice.

But as I say, after my last game I really can't complain about the game being one-sided. And no one was injured. And I didn't lose any fans. And I threw a couple of long bombs. And Thursdaynight got the MVP.

So really, when you think about it, it was practically a win for the wood elves.

Yeah, right.
