For most of the match, it was business as usual for elves, with both teams scoring quickly whenever they had the ball. The dark elves were also particularly impressive when it came to dodging, and the wood elves constantly found their players surrounded by dark elves who really should have been tied up in several TZs.
My first drive was a 1-turn TD after a quick snap. Dull. My second was a lot more fun as the kick was short and the tree caught it. So off he went, heading for the endzone, with plenty of time still on the clock so I didn't even need to go for it every turn. Flytime had two strip-ballers so I doubted I was going to make it all the way, but what finally got me was an impressive (or impressively lucky) -2 dice blitz against the tree which resulted in a double POW.
I did get the ball back, but by them my best chance of a late score was to throw a quick pass to a lineman in a TZ who could then dodge and score... but he dropped the catch.
I pulled one back at the start of the second half, but then the dark elves took control, drawing me deep and then avoiding the blitz, throwing a long bomb and then protecting the ball-carrier and letting me struggle for a couple of turns before playing safe and getting the score.
I then ran in an equaliser once again, leaving Flytime two turns to find the winner. I even rolled up a perfect D on the kick, but there were just too many targets to cover downfield on the final turn and the throw was perfect.
So a loss, a -FF and a MNG. Not a great result, but a great game nonetheless so there's no complaints from me. I'll stick with two loners for my next match and as long as no one else gets splatted, I should be up to 11 for the game after that.
And after a great run, Thursdaynight is taking a break from picking up the MVP so he's still stuck on 85. On the plus side, every extra game he takes to get there brings him closer to the Oldest Player record as well - still plenty to go there, though, and Taku is still active!
Bigly fun!”
