“The last time I played eldritchfox was in this year's FUMBBL Cup, when I lost out to him 3-4 in a fun and exciting game. This time it was just as much fun, but without being a tournament game, it was a little less stressful.
A lot happened, and for once I can't remember it all - we were too busy chatting for me to make notes - so I'll go with the game stats and se how I get on.
I do remember my first turn, in which I managed 3 KOs in quick succession. Well, I thought, if this keeps up, it should be an easy enough game. But of course it didn't, and in fact the renegades came out comfortably on top in the bashing stakes by the end of the game - including the SI to their own player!
Anyway, having had my thrower miss the previous game though MNG, I was determined to make up for it, and sure enough, he had a storming game, throwing a TD pass from his own side of the pitch for the first score, running backwards to do the same for the second score and even completing two, or possibly three passes once the blizzard came along halfway through the second half. Oh yes, and it was sunny for most of the first half as well.
The dice were not our friend today - either of us - and we racked up an impressive 15 turnovers between us, but somehow we still managed 6 Tis and a hugely impressive 12 passes.
But it was the blocking that really made the difference, with the Slayers getting rid of wood elves at regular intervals (by which I mean frequent intervals, really) and by the end of the game I was down to four elves and a tree on the pitch. Even Thursdaynight took a battering today, ending up on the ground three times, and all from blocking rather than his usual failed gfi.
The new wardancer was impressive, having to cover for the two missing catchers, as well as the one who was KOd early on and refused to come back all game, and he picked up all three of the scores. And the thrower had his best figures for a long while at 8 for 69.
The only disappointing thing was the fact that both teams lost fans afterwards - my god but they're hard to please - and this has now taken me down to FF4. One more drop and I'll have more rerolls than fan factor, which is never a good thing.
But on the plus side, I now have a full squad again - eleven players that is, not 16, of course - and one or two of them are even beginning to look useful as well...so it's probably time for some deaths I guess.
We'll see.
Nice game eldritchfox. Sorry to see you're out of the Cup now, but good luck with your tabletop tourney.”
