“Another division rivalry, another one that allegedly caught the opponent in bloodlust mode.
First drive saw the Patriots setting up for a stall, but forced out of it by Griffins hard hitting style. Patriots lost 2 players early, so decided to move forward, and scored in their 3rd turn.
Second drive saw the Griffins set up for hard hits and fouls, but the Patriots defense saw its coming, and comes up with a Perfect Defense. It forces the Griffins out of the center, and advance to the wide zone with the ball. Pats block the path, or they believed so, but Tevin Coleman breaks through tackle zones and scores.
Third drive is Patriots again. This time the LOS work eliminates a Griffin, and setting up for a stall. Griffins try to stop the wide zone, but giving up the center. Patriots set up for advancement, but Dupree double snakes a GFI. Luckily the opposition is tied up, they have to go around the Patriots players cant go through them, there is no clear path towards a sack even though Lockett is in the open. (Also Bortles did not move ahead so there is a safety in case of some crazy evenz.)
Griffins mark Lockett, and resets the center, but could not do enough. Patriots resets the center with a Bortles blitz, and a reverse run, which puts most Griffins out of position. Still, Tim Cook was able to dodge and hit Lockett hard, and BH him. Then after some blocking Dupree takes the ball and scores.
Fourth drive is the 1turn, which fizzles on snaked GFI.
Fifth drive should be big one, as the game is 2-1 and Griffins are driving. There is a pitch invasion! Downing 4 Griffins for 1 Patriots, as a harbinger of the final game score. Griffins LOS blocking is exposed then nonexistent, only a blitz. Patriots are able to capitalize, and put serious pressure on the ball, and also eliminating 2 Griffins, including their killer. The Center is busy, behind the center is sealed, Bortles is threatening the whole Griffins side of the pitch, and he is covered with help. There is no sack or ball marking yet, but there is absolutely no hiding place at this moment.
Griffins see their chances as grim, and go for a ballsy 1D blitz by ballcarrier on Bortles, reroll a push into a skull. Bortles also catches the ball to add insult to injury. Patriots solve the scuffle, all the Griffins do is fouling. Bortles hands over to Dupree, who will eventually score.
Sixth drive is Griffins again. They eliminate 1, but fail to secure the ball. Patriots strike as they move forward. Multimark the ball carrier, and also the closest thrower, both in the wide zone, and fouling off the Griffins killer. Griffins try to pass the ball forward, but it fails. The ball is thrown back to the pitch, and is suddenly at center position. Patriots work on the center, taking ownership there, picking and securing the ball. Griffins took an effort for a sack, but the 1D blitz did not work without reroll. Teams exchange some fouls and hits, and that is it. 4-1 for Patriots.
Looking at the game, Patriots were heavily outcased 3-1, losing the CAS conversion battle by a wide margin. Were outblocking opponents similarly as vs Thunderbolts, but looks like they gave all their hard hits to the previous opponents, and could not really bother the Griffins. The game seem to be won by position and agility, over strength and hits. This is a positive new development as Patriots this season relied heavily on bashing game, and did not deliver when it was off.
With 20 points the playoff is close to be secured, On to the Bandits!”
