“Rise all loyal Cougars and hurl your challenge to the foe.
You will fight, day or night, rain or snow.
Loyal, strong, and true
Wear the white and blue.
While we sing, get set to spring.
Come on Cougars it's up to you. Oh!
The Cougars didn't actually win, but they have such a great anthem I thought it only fair to share. And anyway, they certainly did hurl their challenge at me - and even threw more completions than I did!!
In my defence, I will point out that Briskbreeze did rack up 84 yards of passing, and I almost forgive him for the two (yes, TWO) double fumbles on pick-ups.
The big difference between these two mighty passing teams was really Swampserpent's bad luck with his armour and injury rolls. This kept him below strength and allowed the wood elves to control the play a little bit more comfortably than they usually manage. Also, twice in quick succession, Swampserpent suffered two failed go for its - the first of which allowed me to get my first score, so that he was forced to play catch-up for the rest of the half.
So basically, I won this one on a couple of lucky plays and could so easily have lost it if the luck had gone just a tiny bit the other way. But anyway, it was a fun and challenging game as they always are against Swampserpent and apart from the loss of an already-injured lineman for the high elves, we both came away with all our players.
In fact, I managed to skill-up a journeyman and had the cash to buy him afterwards, so that was nice.
So all in all, well worth staying up past my bedtime for!”
