For the second game in a row I lost my best wardancer on the first turn - they really do get picked on, don't they - thanks to Buliwyf, the dark elf blitzer, who had a storming game, adding to this BH with a subsequent SI and kill (as well as several KOs, as far as I can remember). In return my blocking was less than effective in the first half, and it wasn't until the blitz which opened up the second half that Thursdaynight managed anything more than a knocked over. In the end, he came away with 2 BHs, however, so that was not too bad.
But the passing was where the wood elves came alive. Briskbreeze managed 9 for 86 ( a personal best for him, though still a good deal short of my own record of 13 for 101) and for once the catchers didn't spend most of the game dropping the ball afterwards.
But as I say, it was a lucky win. The dark elves had a couple of really unlucky plays that allowed me to get hold of the ball with the thrower when really they should have been well on their way to a TD of their own. In one particularly impressive play, Little miss PeteW used her AG6 to dodge in and pick up the loose ball in 3 TZs, dodge out to safety and then fumble the quick pass that would have given the dark elves a comfortable advantage.
Thx for the game WizardX11. Hopefully next time we meet you'll get a better share of the good dice... and it will be my turn to kill someone :-)”
