Well, it ended as a draw, bu the dark elves definitely won the blocking game, hands down. My fast wardancer went out a KO on turn 1, and then failed to return for the entire game (seven chances, all failed), only to turn up afterwards and claim the MVP!
The rest of the team survived the first half pretty well, and actually we put up a good show, getting in three scores and looking reasonably comfortable for the win.
But then came the dark elf counter attack. On the final turn of the half, I suffered a KO and two BH, and this was followed at the start of the second half by a whole load more, including a career-ending SI to the other wardancer, and a MNG on the star catcher.
So after the dark elves score I was down to four players, and after their final score I was down to two - the tree and a loner.
Still, it was a fun game for all that and I'm happy enough to have come away with a draw, a bit of cash and some new fans. Also a cas for Thursdaynight and 6 for 54 for the thrower.
But Woman of the Match was definitely the witch, Pantegana, who was a whirling frenzy of destruction when she wasn't throwing a pass or running in a score. I do not look forward to meeting her again, especially now she has added leap to all her other skills.
So I now have a somewhat unbalanced team, with two legends and six journeymen - with no prospect of being able to replace the wardancer for several games yet. However, my rating has dropped to nearly 1700, so surely I might be able to find someone a little more gentle for my next couple of games.
Good game panalukidis, and may we have many more in the future.”
