The Linguists achieved a completely cleared pitch (first time ever for me) by the end of the first half, then saw only a single player show up to play at the start of the second. Great fighting spirit was demonstrated by the Wood elf coach who kept trying to beat up on the dark elf cousins, even taking a shot at the ball carrier (who had dump-off). We discussed whether the situation merited a concession (it would not have been dishonorable) but the Woodie coach was stoic.
This was also the first win (after 6 straight losses) for this team, which was nice. Three players skilled up after the game.
Purple Chest commented in the podcast about fouling a few weeks back that "when a wardancer hits the ground, we owe it to the world to put our boots in his face"... so that's what the dark elves did, twice... second time got him off the pitch for the rest of the game.
It's a dice game, and this time my hot casualty dice early on paid off very well... combined with a shortage of basic skills on the very green wood elf team, AV7 all around, and my frenzy blitzer which gave me more blocks on the dodgy team than I would have otherwise been entitled to, it made for a perfect storm.
Fun game for me, less so for the woodies, but at least I didn't demolish anyone's legendary favorite team but rather a completely new one... Thanks for the game, Mr. Johansson, see you around!”
