Won the coin toss and opted to receive. He forced me to score in two turns, and then held out til turn 7 to score himself (trying to take Kreek off the pitch). However, the wonder of bribes and arguing with the ref meant I kept Kreek around, and he was a godsend in the second half. Mr Jingles got killed in the 3rd turn, and thank goodness for apothecaries - he's just off with a groin strain for a match. I thought we'd go to 2-1 and then grind to a halt, but we got a blitz. I hoped this might happen, so I lined Kreek up behind the line of scrimmage, and as all my years of goblin fanatics have taught me, it's quite likely to get a push on a three dice block. So Kreek shoved my line of scrimmage around, and then went on his way, smashing apart the Jet Setters.
Failed dodges and leaps that put his players in the injury box or the dugout handed me my second TD - really undeserved, but that's blood bowl for you. With only 4 of his players on the pitch I thought defending this would be easy, but I reckoned without an AG5 gutter runner. So now we were at 2-2 with only a couple of turns to go.
I put down most of his players, marked his remaining blitzer, and (this is where it proves the dice love me this game) rolled a push with the rat ogre, rolled a both down / skull that would have ended me, and managed to persuade my mercenary rat ogre to reroll and smash another player to the ground. With a last vicious foul from Angelina Ballerina to stun his star gutter runner, and then two GFIs for Mrs Frisby to run in the ball, I'm over jubilant at the victory, and terrified of what will happen when the dice stop rolling my way.
Thanks for the game - even when I was getting this string of undeserved greatness and he was stuck with nothing but ones and skulls, never got salty.”
