“A game that brought back memories... from the spring of 2018, as a complete rookie at blood bowl, getting hammered with shutout games like this one...
Opponent was friendly and game was more fun than the score suggests; some observations from the post-mortem:
- Serene Siren missed the game due to injuries incurred in last game, so I was down to 2 Guards and was missing my dauntless killer tackler.
- Speaking of which, must skill up newest blitzer Faye ASAP to get her Guard and not have to spread my line so thin.
- Against this 11-elf roster, a couple more key casualties early on could have swung the game in favor of the girls. Ref was extremely harsh on the girls for fouling, which made a big difference. As opponent said, ref was the real MVP for much of the game.
- Contradicting what I just said, some of the elves were outstanding--wrestling wardancer got the ball loose from within a cage on more than one occasion, and "Perfect" thrower Flutter had some absolutely magic AG5 elfball moments.
- In first half, I thought of the tree as a worthy target for my efforts and expended a lot of girl power trying to bring it down... despite the joy that would have come with another treeman kill (and it'd have been substantial!), that meant the squishy, fast, and agile elves could run circles around me in the meantime.
