“I feel as if I was being punished here - perhaps for trying to play without using my thrower (he being off sick for this game). Certainly my first few turns were a litany of disaster so appalling it was comical. Loew tried really hard to be as bad as I was, kindly failing quite a few of his own easy dice rolls, but I was simply in a different league. So needless to say, once I was missing my only real offensive player and was already 2-0 down before I'd even settled into the game, there wasn't that much left to play for. Pride, perhaps.
As is so often the case, however, a terrible first half is rewarded with a fairly good second half, and this was definitely the case here, with my one really impressive play of the game resulting in an incredibly lucky score. All it took was a timely failed dodge from the scariest witch elf I've seen in a long time and I was home free. Lucky does not even begin to describe it.
After that, Loew scored once more, just to remind me who was boss and the game finished up with two turns of desperate bashing of loners for spare casualty SPPs that might have been going. But there weren't any.
It was a game I was never expecting to win, but it was a lot of fun regardless. No one died, my AG5 wardancer now has tackle, and most exciting of all, my tree is now ST7! I did think about giving him dodge instead, as I do love blodging trees, but you can't pass up a +ST. Really, you can't.
And I have my thrower back.
Bring it on!”
