Basically, the first half was a kill frenzy - for both teams really, although Midas_Touch definitely got the better of it. He started slow, keeping well back from the tree, and I kept most of my better players hanging around near it for protection. If I'd been able to keep all my players, I might have been able to stop him scoring, I suppose, but the wolves were relentless and my armour just wasn't up to the task today.
I was left with five players for the final turn of the half, so no one-turn attempt. And because the thrower failed to come back from his KO, no passing either.
He did come back for the second half, however so I made sure he finished off with at least one long bomb, just for form's sake.
But the result was never really in doubt. I suppose if the undead had failed a pick-up or something, I might have been in with a chance, but even when I did luck out, there always seemed to be a wolf close enough to splat me down.
So a comfortable win for the LunaTics and a serious bruising for Sensation. But as I said at the top, at least it gives me the chance to re-evaluate the team. The dead wardancer is a shame as he was the cornerstone of the offence, but the lineman was a 1-skiller and no great loss. The -AV catcher I also retired - partly because he now has the durability of a halfling, but mostly because I've come to realise that his skill-set sucked. He got +ST with his first skill, and a double for his second, so I foolishly gave him MB (I had plenty go guard at the time, and I thought it might be fun). But that's not how I use my catchers and he spent too much time on the LoS trying to injure people rather than getting downfield like he was suppose to.
So I'm back to 5 journeymen for a while, and still I'm clocking a TV of 1730 thanks to the thrower, the second wardancer and the tree. I suspect one of them will have to go soon. Honestly, I could do without the wardancer, but when it comes to having to choose between the tree and the thrower, that's going to be hard.
Or I could just keep them both, keep playing tougher teams with a similar rating and see which one is killed first.
On the plus side, my CR is heading ever-downwards. Very soon I'll be back to Rookie, which is always an easy way to pick up games.
Whatever.”
