#3 Dukkeras Dustheart – Smashed Knee (NI)
Crown of Sand Quarterfinal. A tough game for the Krakens against a very strong chaos side. EoE received, quickly caged and ground up the pitch to score late in the first half. Although the Krakens managed to remove a couple of players, EoE did likewise and also put a lot of elfs flat on their backs; with such a strong cage too they proved unstoppable. The Krakens had a small sniff of a one-turner in response but a positioning error put paid to that.

Second half Seron made a long break up the left wing, scoring after four turns for the Krakens; that was possibly a bit early but with elfs dropping in the end he was forced to break for it. Perhaps a better strategy would have been to drop deep into the shotgun and drag it out a bit longer, but then again maybe not - the Krakens were running out of players, with many of those on the pitch getting stuck by tentacles or laid prone!

So ~4 turns for the Chaos to win it, which they just about managed. Strangely they didn't do a huge amount of damage, but they did roll a lot of successful blocks once again and with most dark elfs on the floor, the Krakens could not stall them. However some dodging by a blitzer guard, followed by a wonderful blitz by St4 Ag6 Seron did put the ballcarrier down in T7, and moreover leave the ball in Seron's hands; but unfortunately the good blocks continued, putting both Seron and crucially the sidestep tackle blitzer down, and leaving EoE needing an unpressured pickup to score at the end.

Good game though - good luck to Battlelore in the next round!
