Scything through the opposition Mash Khann looked odds on to score with only the enemy cow to beat. But then he ran the other way.
The game turned into a proper scrum with both teams trying to get the upper hand. The ball was lost, and then won by the 69'ers. 'How are you going to score now?' The opposition coach mouthed over the din of the crowd. The Nurgle coach could barely see what was happening through his tears of regret. The halftime whistle blew and it was 0-0. The Nurgle drive had failed. A quick halftime talk and the two teams took the field again, but this time the Chosen team could only field eight players. The Nurgle boys could smell blood and after a particularly accurate kick off, they blitzed the opposition back field. Evil Angel scooped up the ball, but with nowhere to go, and the three opposition Pestigors thundering down on her, it was clear she was out of options. Mash Khann sacked her, scooped up the ball and scored what would turn out to be the winning touchdown. 'The name of the game is now Bash! Bash! Then bash some more!' The coach screamed at his diseased minions. The 69'ers took the kickoff. Again the Buccaneers got themselves through the line and into the Chaos backfield, albeit more slowly than the last time. Evil Angel struggled to pick up the ball, the crowd held their breathe... But she snaffled it up on the second go and shot past the advancing Nurgle. The Buccaneers coach tried to ignore the rising panic. Just when it looked like the worm might turn, Evil Angel ran smack into the Buccaneers sweeper. The ball went loose with an ugly bounce. The big boys from both teams jostled each other around the ball. Neither team could find the advantage as the clock ticked down. After what seemed an eternity, the referee blew the whistle. The Buccaneers had taken the Shield.
A tense but fun game against a gracious opponent who had to put up with me having well more than my fair share of luck. Thanks Barberfett. ”
