Yes, some say it's not the winning but the taking part... They are of course wrong - as the Scramblers will explain it's not the winning but the smashing the **** out of everything standing, then repeatedly jumping on top of them when they hit the deck (even after the first two rats get sent off by the ref), and then inciting your rowdy fans to storm the pitch twice and jump on them some more.

It was not a pretty sight out there for Eagles fans, come the final whistle the pitch was slick with blood and hair gel. Amid the sobs and whimpers in the dugout came a solitary pop of a champagne cork... err, we won lads didn't we?

A ridiculously brutal match between the Scramblers, still smarting from the punishing match they suffered against the Rotters last week, and the Eagles.

With the Eagles scoring twice in the first quarter of the game, the rats were clearly enraged by those pointy-eared freaks. With every drive, the Eagles had lost a player, so the smart-smart coaches of the Scramblers were planning a gradual war of attrition, where they'd come back to win after an 11-0 deficit.

Instead, pitch invasions galore and an accelerated assault by gutter runners left the Eagles with a dead catcher, multiple permanently damaged players, and 6 players left to face the rats in the final drive.

Could the Scramblers push to make it 2-2?

They could not. But while the Eagles won the match, the Scramblers insist they won the war...
