Also in their second game the FAMILY starts in defence. It's sweltering hot and a riot steals a round of the first half. The rats pick up the ball and form a cage in TD range already at the end of their first turn. The FAMILY marks them, and DAD blitzes through the screen getting next to the ball carrier. It looks like an easy turn 3 score for the rats, who unfortunately (for them) cannot dodge out of DAD's tackle zone (roll 2,2 with Dodge). To add insult to injury (or better the other way around) the ball carrier KO's himself falling to the ground, with the ball landing next to DAD and 3 rats. The FAMILY gets in for support! A rat gets pushed by PRINCE and now the ball is next to DAD and a single rat, who gets blocked away by DAD himself. Another rat is KO'd by HIPPIE AUNTIE. THE ONE WE DON'T TALK ABOUT recovers the ball and a lousy cage is formed. The rats don't give up and blitz THE ONE, but only only manage a push (-2D plus RR). THE ONE starts his turn surrounded, but thanks to helpful blocks from the FAMILY he manages to hand off to PRINCESS who goes hiding by the sideline. A rat tries to blitz but fails the second dodge. It's turn 5 and we are still dangerously closed to our own TD line, but the ball is ours. The FAMILY forms a conservative cage but then gets greedy. A hand-off to HIPPIE AUNTIE, a switch of side, and a TD is now a real possibility! A lonely rat tries to get next to her but fails a GFI - HIPPIE AUNTIE can be very distracting! HIPPIE AUNTIE moves forward while the FAMILY gathers around the rat on the ground, who manages to dodge through two players (!!!) and blitzes HIPPIE AUNTIE getting a push on a -2D block. But this heroic stunt is not enough to stop HIPPIE AUNTIE from scoring her first TD.
The second half starts with 10 vs. 11 due to to excessive heat - HIPPIE AUNTIE and PRINCE are out leaving the FAMILY with very few positionals for this drive. SKINNY DUDE celebrates his first turn with the FAMILY by smashing a rat's hand and thus draws first blood, but gets sent out from the ref in the next round in a failed foul attempt. At the end of the turn WEIRD UNCLE, who happened to have found the ball on the ground, is protected by what the FAMILY considers like a very solid screen. But they are mistaken! Two rats get through in a series of spectacular dodges and blitz WEIRD UNCLE for their first 1D blitz of the game but, even with a RR, UNCLE is saved by his DODGE. The FAMILY thinks that they have built a solid cage this time. But no! DAD gets pushed away by a bunch of rats and an heroic rodent manages to fracture UNCLE's skull (-AV) with a 1D blitz, thus ending WEIRD UNCLE's career with the FAMILY. The only consolation is that the blitzer got KO'd too, so the ball lies on the ground but sufficiently protected by the FAMILY. A new cage is formed, with THE ONE carrying. PRINCESS is in TD range (but marked by a rat) and it's only turn 4, so the FAMILY is hopeful. Two more rats leave the game early due to blocks and failed GFI (or maybe they were just afraid of MOM?). THE ONE runs away with the ball but again the FAMILY has underestimated the movement and dodging of two rats who blitz through the screen, KO THE ONE and recover the ball. It's now turn 5, 7 vs. 7 and the game suddenly seems under the control of the rats for a 1-1 tie. But the rats cage all their players in their defensive half in turn 5 and therefore a failed hand-off in turn 6 leaves no opportunity for recovery.
After the match:
Skeleton SKINNY DUDE is MVP and gets Dirty Player
Ghoul HIPPIE AUNTIE gets Block
Ghoul WEIRD UNCLE is sacked by the coach after a broken skull (-AV)”
