“Pride of Lybaras faced the Skaven team, that calls the Underciry of Nuln it's home. Due to differences, Pride was offered quite a bit of inducements, which resulted in a hiring of a wizard, and a couple of bribes. Wizard was more thoroughly interviewed after the last one turned out to be a charlatan. Bribes were bought, since clearly the refs at Nuln Invitational are too overzealous with the bannings.
The game started with a skaven offense, which got a start by a rock thrown from the audience at one lineskeleton, that was stunned by the hit. The rats sprinted quickly past the middle, with multiple players between the Lybarasians and the carrier. The skeletons and constructs got in the way as fast as they could, and Hopokom even managed to knock one Gutter Runner out with his chainsaw. THis did unfortunately leave him exposed to a counterattack by the Bells' star blitzer, and Hopokom was knocked out in turn.
The skaven, once again demonstrating their superior speed and agility, sprinted through the gaps, trying to buy some time, and leaving as many undead behind them as possible. But Terseh was on point, and managed to knock down both of the Stromvermins, leaving a small, if risky, way through to the carrier. The skaven quickly regrouped, and managed to get the ball back. Then suddenly, right before crossing the TD line, Gutter Runner Funk Skurrytail was turned into a frog! This allowed Bostesi to bring it's superior strength to bear, and smacked the former rat hard enough to injure it. Finishing the blitz with scooping the ball up, Bostesi was now looking at the angry eyes of multiple skaven players.
Bostesi managed to show some elflike grace, and resilience usually portrayed by players more limber and sturdy, by slithering away from the skaven players, and taking on multiple hits time and time again, never dropping the ball. Sadly it wasn't enough, as in the end the skaven did manage to push Bostesi back far enough, that there wasn't anymore time to try and score a TD.
First half was over, with the game still in intense 0-0 score. The ref saw his change, and banned both Hopokom and Terseh. The bribes weren't used, with the idea that Hopokom was KO, so he isn't coming back anyway, and bomber ain't so useful on attack. The bans were argued though, but neither player was spared the decision of the strict ref. This left both bribes to be used for Khenkas, wwhen he would eventually bring his chainsaw to bear on downed skaven players.
Both teams set up, with The Lybarasians readying themselves for a slow grind through the rats. The ball is kicked, but the skaven are faster than a bunch of skeletons could ever be, and they start the defence before a single player of the Pride is able to react. Half of the skaven team manages to run and take positions around the square where the ball will drop.
Bomber aint' so useful on offense, right?
What followed was a big scrum, with half of both teams duking it out, while the ball, once again in skaven hands, waited just behind the lines. Khenkas had a target rich environment, but time and time again just wasn't able to cause any real damage against the Stormvermin that he slashed at with his saw.
Eventually the saw wasn't able to do even that little damage, thus both Stormvermins managed to rise back up to their feet, one of them knocking down Bostesi, who had managed to creep right next to the ball carrier. After Thikha was pushed into the crowd by multiple skaven, the carrier used this clear pathway to run deep into the Pride side of the pitch. Khenkhas was adamant to show his worth, and managed to finally knock out one of the Stormvermins. But it had taken him too long, and with no clear way to reach the Gutter Runner, the skeletons started bashing at the rats, trying to hurt them, and possibly clear a path somewhere.
The Runner, perhaps even smugly, just danced towards the other side, leaving the skeletons far behind. Khenkhas tried to be of help, and sprinted next to anoter Runner. A removal here could still help. Sadly, the saw had clearly been grinded smooth by the Stormvermin armor, and even the cloth of a Gutter Runner proved too much. The rats quickly blitzed the Necrotect, and the saw finally found it's mark, unfortunately from it's wielder.
Now even a tie was starting to look impossible, and the skaven coach vowed to kill Bostesi before the match was over. Almost the whole skaven team surged around Bostesi, punching, kicking and biting at the strong construct. Bostesi took the hits, and with the help of it's team-mates, managed to slip away from the rats. In retaliation, Bostesi even injured one of the skaven. This had no effect on the game though, as there was no way for the Lybarasians to stop the skaven from scoring a TD anymore.
The counter-attack of the rats finally sees Bostesi injured, and while managing to regenerate, there isn't time to get the mighty Stalker on the pitch anymore. With one more final punch by the Bone Giant and a foul at a downed linerat, the game is over as the Runner crossed the Endzone, and scores the only TD of the match.
Thanks to neubau for the game, it was really intense match, especially the first half. It was pleasant to see Bostesi finally causing injuries! Next game the team is on full strength again after a couple of matches missing a key player or two.”
