The Gators received the kick-off. Promptly on turn one Fred Abbot was hit so hard by Alex Funches it fractured a vertebrae. His availability for the next game is in doubt. Funches would terrorize the Gators causing three casualties and a number of KO's. Josh Doctson's body exploded to pieces on one of Funches' frenzied assaults. Upon seeing this, coach Garnak shouted, "Stupid TCU left over crap!"
Several turns later is was 11 on 6 for the Lizards. Cali eventually caused a Gator turn over which allowed McCallan Castles to score his first of two.
The second half saw Castles exhibit not so sure hands when he failed to pick up the ball for two consecutive turns. The Gators assembled a defense that threatened the ball. This glimmer of hope was quickly dashed when Funches knocked Withergrasp Doubledrool out of the game. The Lizards caged the ball quickly and moved down the field.
The now frustrated Gators were egged on by Lord Borak who shouted, "Hey! If we can't get the ball get some flesh!" With that the Gators ignored the ball and hit and surfed whatever they could. Eventually, they isolated Miles Owens on the sideline. Trying to avoid being knocked into the crowd, the Krox attempted to dodge away, however he tripped and fell. Like a swarm of undead drawn to brains, the Gators surrounded Miles. "Hold'em down for me boys!', cried Borak as he literally danced over toward Miles. When Borak's boot struck the Krox in the head, a sickening yet satisfying crunch was audible throughout the stadium. "Lizard brain is on the menu boys!" was heard from somewhere on the Gator sideline.
California ignored their dead Krox and pushed on to their second TD easily. A short scuffle on the turn eight kick-off lead to another Borak foul which caused a groin issue for Remigio.
The post game interview with coach Garnak was more pleasant than expected. The last question posed to him asked, "Coach, even though he was an opponent, it has to be sad to see the demise of such a promising player as Miles Owens. Do you have anything to say to his family, team, coach, or Golden Lizard fans?" Garnak slyly smiled and responded, "No." When he left the dais, the coach appeared to be chewing on brain gristle.”
