The Silver Guardians won the toin coss and decided to receive. We weren't getting anywhere at all and even allowed a 2d on the ball in turn 4. Dice would be with the wood elves this game. In turn 5 we removed a ST4 wolf (but regen worked) and managed to stall to turn 8 before scoring, although I had to allow another 1d on the ball. The one-turn defence was bad, but the wolf didn't catch the pass (4+ in a tackle zone): 1-0 at halftime.
Despite lacking a treeman, the wood elf armor held for the whole game. Anyone knows that it is difficult to beat wood elves if you can't thin their lines. I kicked short and launched the fireball in turn 1 of the second half, hitting all three players, including the ball carrier. A few chaotic turns followed, where I lost the ball twice and recovered it twice again before getting it more or less to safety. Meanwhile I managed to badly hurt a ghoul. Keeping the ball safe from two ST4 wolves is hard, so I decided to take some risks. I needed 6 2+'s and it worked: 2-0 with only three turns to go.
The necros set up for a oneturner, but Perfect Defense destroyed all hope. They even lost the ball after a failed pass, leading to the final 3-0 score.
First tourney win for the Silver Guardians, my oldest ranked team!
Thanks to DaCoach for the game, who faced another team of punishing elves after my Wandering Feathers had previously faced A Smack in Da Face! in the final of Bar Brawl XLVII.”
