We came into this missing 2 Saurii. Not a good start. We had a Saurus removed on the first set of blocks in the game. Another Saurus was removed on turn 2. Another was removed on turn 3.. Another was KO'd multiple times.
Los Angeles didn't let this go to waste. They bashed and smashed and slowly, carefully, safely moved forward, never giving a shot on the ball, never giving an easy block. Despite that, we cas-ed a few elves of our own. While we had taken hits, we had a shot at a one turn, and we still had a re-roll for it - but Los Angeles kicked perfectly, putting it straight into the far corner. With extreme sun, we had no chance of a long pass.
Malcolm player horribly this match, bone-heading no less than 5 times. But he came through on turn 15, blitzing down a guard elf, and pushing the ball carrier into block range, which allowed us to steal the ball (we had already 2 turn scored earlier in the second half) after 3 earlier failed attempts. But we had too few players and couldn't properly protect it, so Los Angeles took it back. We tried again on turn 16 to hit the ball, but no luck. The elves swamped the ball and carefully ensured the sidestepper marking it couldn't stay on it, and that they had a 3d block to knock it down or away.
2-1 Los Angeles. They never got overconfident with the losses they caused, they never took risks they could avoid - and despite that, they still gave us several shots.
Thanks for the match Stimme!”
