“NCBB Season 35 Game 4
Conference Game Non-AQ Group A
Slightly underated in the match up, coach Valen brought his troop of Chaos Dwarves to the battle induced with the presence of the infamous Nobbla Blackwart. JMSB knows how to treat such a star and made sure to provide him with vast quantities of O'Keefe Ale prior to the match.
The game starts with a pick up from Terry Bradsaw, healthy blocks, but Illinois responds shortly by sending Blackwart right at ShaKill O'Neal who's knocked out by the chainsaw. On the following turn, he targets Reggie Blight, but he fails to break his slimy armor. Trying to retaliate on the dangerous drunken star, Blight tries a 3 dice block and rolls triple both down and stuns himself, causing a turnover that leaves JMSB in a terrible spot.
Maxwell the Reaver knocks out Bradsaw who was left unprotected when the beast went down and the ball is loose. Blackwart is unsuccessful again attacking Pavel Bury, but not much else is going well for the rotters. They try to regain their position, but Blade Divac knocks himself out trying to dodge and the ball remains loose.
The chainsaw miscues continue, the next attempt failing to hurt Gary Carver on the blitz and another failed shot at Reggie Blight who has surprisingly stood up unassisted. Meanwhile, Raymond Varzhnak knocks out Grant Fury and Lorenzo Zhorag, the dirty but sure handed hobgoblin, manages to pick up the ball. He gets pushed by Bury who fails to secure the take down and is utimately freed up to run for the end zone by dwarven blocker Antonio Morcar.
Now outnumbered by four, JSMB has little hope of preventing a defensive score. Again, their only good fortune comes when the chainsaw backfires, making that a fifth consecutive failed attempt. Blackwart ends up knocking himself out and is banned by the referee who's seen enough. Coach Valen is furious and vows to never hire a goblin again.
At the half, 3 of the 4 knocked out players recover, but Bradsaw still needs a few more Molson Exports before he can go back to the field. The crowd is not pleased and they throw a rock at dwarf Morcar to express that. Varzhnak is not impressed and he knocks out Danae Moon to open the drive.
Dale Hawerchoke attempts to even the playing field by knocking down the great bull Eli Skullcrusher with Carver fouling him, but he is saved by his thick skull. The dwarves respond by ganging up on Cal Ripskin Jr. as Asher Skurfrik knocks him out with a blitz. That leaves an opening for the other bull River Axehead. He gets handed off the ball with a team re-roll and rushes up the opposite flank out of range. Bury tries to get to him, but the dwarves catch and tie him down. Illinois doesn't attempt to stall further and they take a 2-0 lead on the 4th turn.
The next drive starts with a blitz and the dwarves manage to completely cage up around the ball before it lands in the perfect spot for them. JSMB is caught deeply out of position and a failed block from O'Neal leaves it wide open for Axehead to score again.
Not wanting to be completely humiliated, JSMB goes back on the field to attempt a last minute score with 3 turns to go. They send Divac and Bury on opposite flanks while Bradsaw makes a pickup close to the line of scrimmage. Illinois defends by tagging each of them with a Centaur, but Michael Slay-Han manages to free up Bury by blitzing then defender. That lets Bradsaw proceed with the hand off and Bury dashes forward for the end zone, going for it twice, but still short one.
The hobgoblins try to catch up to him, but are out of reach for a hit. JSMB goes for maximum punishment on the last turn, but fail to secure any casualties. Bury dodges easily into the end zone and gets handed out a Coors Light in front of the cameras to the delight of their sponsor.
JMSB takes their first loss in a difficult match up and leaves the field hungry for blood. Tough fight from coach Valen who skilled up his two Bull Centaurs in this game. We expect him to cause problems for other teams who have yet to face him.”
