Did I ever tell the story of the team? I don't think so... I mean... how everything started.
I'm the proud owner of a restaurant in the Moot, that quickly became quite successful. So successful several of my regulars were so addicted they were at the restaurant for every of the 8 meals a day. Some burnt all their savings and still weren't able to pay their tabs. So I had to do something.
That's when I offered them a deal. "Let's make a Blood Bowl team, and reimburse me with what you earn on the pitch". It's how it all started. The team was a bloody disaster to begin with. But my coaching skills improved, and, I must admit, adding some special ingredients found in the sewers of Altdorf helped me turn some players into... dare I say monsters?
Fortunately, as you know, Halflings have quite a high tolerance to Warpstone and Chaos mutations in general, which helped me not to get caught during the various drug testing sessions of the league.
And then things became darker. The Nurgle plague stroke in the Old World. People had to be quarantined. Restaurants were closed in the Moot. Including mine and I still don't know whether it will open again one day or not.
It gave me time to think about so many things... Blood Bowl... Life... Fate... And then started the XFL tournament. The Sammiches were rusty, but they had to participate. And they did.
They were a pale shade of themselves, but every single coach they faced helped them remember who they are. Including during the final. The Sammiches ain't the number one in town. They're simply oldbies trying to show the yougsters they ain't dead yet. And even if they had to bow to the new Lord of the Flings, they've shown exactly that.
Don't give up. Never. Even against all odds. Nomatter what the ordeal is. Yes the Sammiches restaurant will survive Nurgle's Plague and will reopen, not this year, but one day... Yes the team will live on and rethink itself, and do Fling wonders again.
And that's also thanks to their past and future opponents. That's also thanks to the Super Flings who were the better players, who managed to seize the opportunities they had and left no chance to Sammiches.
Play, win or lose, never give up, foul, as much as you can, and see you next year for the rematch!
