The Express's minotaur got KO'd in the first turn, and slept through the entire match, only waking up when the stands were being cleared and everyone was going home. With an early foul taking out a hobgoblin, the Facts seemed to be on the way to making it to safety via demolishing the opposition, but it wasn't long before Zug got sacked and there was the prospect of the team conceding a TD on their own drive.
Luckily, we pushed Stampede off the pitch, and Zug got up and got the ball to Hubris to run it in for an 8th turn score.
In the second half, weak defending (let's claim it was a cunning feint, but it really wasn't) meant the Express charged through for an early score, giving us enough time to press forward again. With Puggy taken down late in the game by a hard block from Stampede, the team was beginning to be winnowed, and Hubris was a bit too far forward and vulnerable.
But with a lucky block and a final reroll, Hubris scampered home to take the winning score in the last moments of the match. The team jumped for joy, and then began to worry about how to deal with next week's dark elves. A win might get the Facts to the Conferences next season, or leave them to terrorise the Regionals again... everything to play for.
Fun fact: this is the first match the team has played without a serious injury or death for at least one player. Damn those thick skulls!”
