“A very tight and close game that went down to the wire. The teams were very even on paper as the Terrors were missing an experienced Chaos Dwarf and veteran Hobgoblin.
The Delight received, and due to some unlikely skill errors found themselves being swamped around the line of scrimmage as one Chaos Dwarf eventually made his way into the backfield and sacked their thrower and stunned him!
The Delight raced back, but the Chaos Dwarf blitzed free and had a chance to scoop up the ball and score, but could not. The Delight recovered but were never able to advance the ball beyond deep in their own defensive half.
0-0 at the start of the second period with the Terrors in a commanding position as both the Delight's thrower Laphroig and emerging star Witch Elf Gladus Dronarch were injured (the latter failed Apoth roll too) whilst the Terrors were missing the experienced Hobgoblin Zapuki Facesplat who was facesplatted by Delight Blitzer Driderspawn. The Delight's second Witch was also lanquishing in the KO bin so the Delight could only field 9 players to defend against the Terrors 11.
The Terrors controlled the ball and brought it upfield behind a screen of blockers. A blocking error by the Terrors (Skull/Pow + Skull rerolled to double Skulls) saw the Delight knock the ball free and attempt a Long Bomb attempt to their Blitzer Driderspawn who was all alone in the Terrors backfield. The pass was fumbled, and the Terrors recovered the ball, and carried it home with not enough time for the Delight to score an equaliser.
--------------
A very tense game. My poor opponent had a lot of ones, especially in the first half. My luck was much better in the first half which allowed me to push deep and almost score on defence. In the second half, his luck started to improve but only slightly, whereas mine went crappo big time. But with 2 extra players on the pitch, and 4 of them being S4 or higher, it was very difficult for my opponent who still almost stole the game.”
