“The Manglerz came into this one knowing exactly what they were in for, Coach Hoellenbote being widely known for his aggressive 'remove all their players and the game will look after itself' approach. After a couple of minutes and with three Manglerz depitched including Trollo the troll it looked very much like the writing (or whatever crude daubs of matter of dubious origin passes for orc writing) was on the wall (best wash that off now). There was a brave charge which got a lot of Manglerz smashed to the floor, Brash made an attempt on the ball with the same result as almost all of Brash's actions this season (Brash's face was reintroduced to the ground), Loopy was lost to the crowd and the few remaining Manglerz decided the grass was quite comfortable thank you very much and why would they want to get up when it was so nice and unpunchy on the floor. 1-0 Kickers.

Captain Lamp, having bravely sat out most of the first half, gave a stirring speech and exhorted those who'd been KO'ed to wake up by careful application of remarkably effective targeted brute force. The Manglerz were looking forward to finally managing to do some crumping of their own and less of the getting crumped which has characterised this season so far. Unfortunately the Kickers were fully prepared and got in a hit of their own first. It was just one of those games...

...and then, things changed. Gork (or Mork, or possibly even Nuffle) smiled his sharp toothy grin. Krump and Kerunch crumped and crunched respectively, all of a sudden the Manglerz had a 3 man (orc) advantage for the 2nd half. The teams lined up, the Kickers were immediately surrounded and gleefully kicked. A few kicks were aimed at Myles the self styled Commander of Zharr whilst he grovelled on the floor but nothing came of it. Brash ran it in early and the Manglerz risked it for the win under the eyes of this beneficent deity. 1-1.

As soon as the ball was kicked the Manglerz legged it downfield at various different speeds from 'slow' to 'slower but still faster than a Dwarf'. The Dwarves didn't even notice until the breeze caused by the passing Manglerz stirred their immaculate dwarven beards. Myles Commander of Zharr still recovering from the good hiding he'd been receiving was too busy focusing on the green tide rushing him and not getting his hands securely around the ball. The green tide washed over him picking up the ball on its way. 2-1 Manglerz.

Unfortunately there was just enough time for team captain Lamp's neck and Lenny's ribs to be broken. Having played every single game of the Manglerz 29 game history Cpt. Lamp will undoubtedly be missed in their next game...
