“It was a bright and sunny day, the first rivalry match between teams from two fly-over states. Indiana vs St. Louis. The match started as one would expect...a quick High Elf TD.
But, just prior to the change of possession...the heat really kicked up. The stench from all of the rotting zombies, and golems...it must have been something to behold. Two-thirds of the Billikens' just couldn't manage to make it onto the field. The Horrors really didn't seem to notice it, themselves.
The lopsided numbers meant the rest of the half went as one would expect. James Fleming, a resurrected Air Force rat, kept dropping the boot, and managed to knock the stud thrower, Joshua Hightower out of the match, entirely.
Devil Coleman, Indiana's star Senior Wolf had been hitting the weight room since his last match, and really improved the might of his blows...and combined with his claws...he badly injured a pair of elves during the match, and murdered another on the field. Indiana would like to welcome freshman Stefan Stojanovic to the team, coincidently. The drive ended just a few moments before the first half whistle blew, with the sophomore Wolf, Johnathan Banks scoring the first TD of his career.
St. Louis was not left with enough time to score, and had to kick off. The weather had turned to a downpour(You've got to love the Midwestern weather), and Bobby Leonard's arm was broken by a disgruntled fan's rock, in the meantime. What remained was a grinding advance of the Horrors, ending in a score by star Ghoul, Demon Bailey.
The Billiken's were blessed with beautiful weather, but despite a valiant effort, the Elves just weren't their usual agile selves, and kept tripping trying to evade Indiana blockers. There wasn't enough time left to complete a tying score.
Suffice to say, the next rivalry game should be spirited. ”
