Electing to kick and to leave Khok'tap on the bench out of harms way the Sandstorm team exuded confidence. Some brutal fouling of the Tomb Scorpions later and things were looking less good. When The Device was finally shattered into small shiny pieces things looked even worse. The hired wizard was duly called into action and one fireball later the Full Moon drive was in a bit of trouble. Full Moon tried to swap to the opposite side of the pitch but the ball popped free after some great tackling by Zaarg, nimbly leg swiping a very surprised and unlucky vampire. Mugg the Morbid pounced on the loose ball and headed for the line, ambitions of overtaking Khok'tap as #1 filling his otherwise empty skull.
Then, disaster, the leaping Dom Perignon surprised him from behind with an aerial assault and took the ball back, casually tossing it downfield for the breakaway touchdown. 1-0 Full Moon.
Khok'tap came back for the second half to lead the team. The Sandstorm at least looking to equalise and take it to extra time. Kik'im did some great work early fouling a vampire to death but the pernickety referee sent him off. Some good work by Full Moon then put the Sandstorm on the defensive, Sandstorm dodged though and set up a nice cage. Someone leaped into it; the Sandstorm appeared to have forgotten the lessons of the first half.
Unfortunately trying to escape the clutches of the latest assault, Zaarg, flailing wildly at anything that moved, wildly flailed his own face. Breaking his hip on the way down and leaving Khok'tap completely exposed. Khok'tap was then surfed into the crowd for the 2nd game in a row, however this time he had a little bit of magic up his sleeve. As he fell back across the whitewash he launched the ball halfway across the field to Fling'it. Fling'it then flung it halfway down the field to Mugg and Mugg ran the ball in for a touch down relieved he hadn't just caught the bomb he had been expecting. 1-1 with very little time remaining.
The Sandstorm tried their best to stop the equaliser but Full Moon ran it in in the dying seconds to condemn The Sandstorm to their first ever loss.
2-1 Full Moon.”
