The second half was fierce. The Undead broke through some early deep field pressure only to have their cage fail and the ball carrier get surrounded by 5 Dark Elves tackle zones. Some chain pushing freed up the ghouls to gain some distance and head into scoring range. But the Dark Elves had other ideas, pulling off a play of astoundingly Elvish Elfballing. In turn 6 Dark Elf Blitzer Kang dodged into 3 TZs and stunned the ghoul ball carrier with a 1d pow. The Undead then made some room for themselves around the ball, but the Wight blitzer fumbled the pickup, burning the team's last RR in the process. The Dark Elves then blitzed in with another 1d pow to move the Wight out of the way. Enter Maximus, AG5 lineman, for his moment of glory. Dodging first into 1 then 2 TZs, he picked up the ball, dodged free, add a GFI (no RR left), then passed it downfield to a blitzer who dodged downfield and ran for the end zone. Only one Undead was anywhere near him. This Wight blitzer dodged free, then 1d blitzed the ball carrier, sending the ball into the crowd. The crowd, wanting to have some fun, tossed the ball back within range of the only unused player in the Undead backfield - Zombie 'Little Sister'. Lautrehamon told me what to do, so I obliged. Little Sister dodged free, picked up the ball, and long bombed it downfield - over a failed interception attempt - to a ghoul in a TZ. She needed an 8 for that pass, but no one was playing percentages here! Both coaches were a little stunned. I fully expected the Ghoul to kill himself while failing the dodge, but Nuffle kept smiling and the Undead went home victorious.
Thanks to Lautrehamon for a memorable game!”
