Fourth time these two teams have met on the field, first time UTEP wasn't the underdog.
UTEP Fans fill the stadium.

A lovely day for BloodBowl as the UTEP fans fill the stadium. This was the fourth time these two teams have met, and the very first time UTEP wasn't the underdog. Poli Puerkos hired an extra dwarf blocker and extra medical staff to keep them on the field.

And Poli was ready to go right off... quick off the mark as they attempted an onside kick. Henry "Hawk" Iccy found himself engulfed in alcohol fumes right off, and lost his way to take down "Bull Dog" Simmons. Bob Breitenstein also found his eyes watering from the fumes as he attempted to field the ball, only to knock it back to his own side of the pitch. The ref toss the ball to the rookie, Dan Cohen as UTEP started their march downfield on the opposite sideline. Too much action going on all at once for "Booger" as he stood in the middle of the field confused. Aiden "The Stump" Rogers was smashed by the dwarves as he attempted to keep them tied up on the far side of the field. At that point, "Bull Dog" pulled back, and let the dwarf wave wash down the field. Levi Carlson, the star of UTEP, just couldn't get warmed up pushing dwarves around rather than hurting them... and the coach could be heard fuming on the sidelines. Booger managed knock one of the dwarf slayers silly, and Dan took that as a good sign to score while he still could.

With only half of the first half consumed, and both teams at full strength, the teams lined up aggressively. UTEP botched their kick, sending it right into the waiting arms of the dwarf offensive line. "Big Foot" Gramática charged right into the alcohol fumes and ran into the same issue Henry Iccy did earlier, unable to make contact with "Ice Man" North. Unable to back away, he was easy pickings for Levi as he sent him to the infirmary and out of the game. The Poli offense attempted to pivot down the same sideline UTEP had dashed down earlier. Fortunately, the UTEP defense just rotated their steamroller in that direction and took down nearly the entire offensive line. Poli recovered as the center of the field simply became a static melee across the center of the field. Wilson Alvarez attempted a final vanity pass in the edges of the alcohol cloud, but Jeffbric Deemps, his eyes bloodshot and watering, just wasn't able to get his hands on the ball.

The second half started with both teams again lining up aggressively. Only Martín "Big Foot" Gramática was missing from the game. UTEP coaching staff had a brilliant plan, and they managed to kick deep this time. A third of the offense retreated to cover the ball as one former elf playing for UTEP was knocked out. Keane "SuperDuper" Sergei was struck my Levi and sent off the pitch soon after, as UTEP prepared for man to man coverage. The Poli quarterback recovered the ball and went deep, uncertain the offensive line would hold. In the center of the action, Booger became confused once again... and Cal Norton, the former Human catcher from App State became concerned that he wouldn't have the coverage Beast provided, dug deep and slammed into the Vern "Oil" Hobban, knocking the experienced dwarf lineman back and taking him out of the rest of the game. Dan Cohen was similarly smashed by Henry Iccy soon after. Levi took that blow to heart and recruited Henry Iccy to play for UTEP right after. (Even the apothecary couldn't change the young Troll Slayer's mind.) The Poli offense that was still mobile took this as their opportunity to charge down the other sideline. As the rookie Cal Norton injured another dwarf in the offense, ol' Twinkle Toes Hosford ran down the Poli quarterback and sacked him in the backfield. A defensive team of Levi, Cal, Andrew, and Bull Dog ran down the remainder of the mobile offense, and Andrew snatched up the ball to score with just a few minutes left on the clock. The UTEP fans, accustomed to lots of stalling and slow moving games, were thrilled and took to the field... stamping on friend and foe alike.

An exciting game for the fans! We were very appreciative of the opportunity to play.

Good luck with the team, and see you next season.
