#8 Murgoff – Dead (RIP)
With hindsight, it wasn't a great idea to take a team of deliberately weak orcs and play them against a team of tough orcs. Bonzo is really all about the passing game (surprise, surprise) and that's why I generally look for AG-based opponents. However, there wasn't much else on Gamefinder, so I thought I'd give it a go.

So, I received the kick, took a turn to get into position and then threw a nice 9 yard pass which was (surprisingly) caught on the first try and run in for the score.

After that Waagh Star got hold of the ball and kept it, and there really wasn't much I could do about it. The black orcs dominated the LoS, and there was enough guard to make trying to get any kind of blocking defence together all but impossible. The troll, for the second game in a row, was particularly useless, and I'm now thinking of getting rid of him. Most players can keep out of his way, or dodge away, and no block makes him a risk for anything except getting in the way. And I don't even throw goblins much either.

Anyway, skub kept the ball safely away from my players while the black orcs mashed me, and then went for a turn 7 score. I'm not sure why he didn't wait till turn 8. Possibly because I had a wizard and he was worried his ball carrier might suddenly get zapped - and with no rerolls it would all come down to a risky pick up - but as it was the decision didn't come back to bite him. The kick on my turn 8 landed so far away from anyone that I couldn't even get the thrower to it for a consolation long bomb.

And the second half was just the same. skub got the ball at the first attempt, kept it safe, blocked his way through my flimsy defence and parked himself out side the endzone. This time he used up all 8 turns, so I finally hit the ball carrier with the zap at the start of his final turn.

It failed.

So on the plus side, no goblins died. A lineman did, but that's fine as I had a spare. And the +MA goblin now has +ST as well, so he's heading in the right direction. On the downside, I came away with one measly pass for 9 yards. Terrible.

I began this team because I wanted to have a bit of fun with an orc passing game, using goblins as receivers and not using black orcs. The result is that I'm not really having that much fun. I don't want to rebuild the team into a typical orc team because I hate them and think they're as dull as all the other mindless bash teams, but they're really not right at the moment. I'll stick with them for now (mostly because I've already got them ready for the next game) and maybe wait and see what difference the new rules make.

In the meantime...

meh.
