“That went much better than I expected, with my main killer out with a serious concussion.

First half we opted to receive, expecting to do a lot of damage. Instead, I did a daft blitz up the middle, did a lot of KOs but no injuries. That was until Al started hitting, killing a skink and niggling another. Then it was a matter of holding off scoring as long as possible (which wasn't quite long enough). Stevie took a big hit so I risked the apo (from now on until the End Times, the team is trying to win, not trying for self preservation)

With a couple of skinks down, it got easier. I set up deep, because I didn't know what else to do, but Beef Roast showed why he's such an asset to the team, with a dodge to blitz the ball carrier and prevent a first half equaliser.

Second half, I knew I had to be a bit aggressive, and since this team isn't around for much longer, took a few chances. Turned out I didn't need to do so much, because we got a blitz and a lovely kick off where the ball was just dead short of the end zone. Almost had a blocker surfed, but that tied up lizards long enough for Beef Roast to run in and get the ball. 6 more block dice eventually got him down, but not out: up he got and ran in the second touch down.

Now I just had to be careful of getting the stuffing kicked out of me. Somewhere along the way Scampi Bites VIII died, so we were running out of players, but a bit of luck (and a missed pass in the final turn) kept our defensive clean sheet, and Beef Roast even managed a final turn blitz on another skink to (almost) tie the casualty count.
