“My first drive ended on my second turn as my saurus rolled double skull, then double pow/skull with the first move of the turn. Talk about a big gap in my defensive line... After recovering the ball I lost it as my skink snake eyed on the gfi. A bit more brawling and he scores. Couple of turns left for me to equalise and it's blitz. Freak 5 ag human blitzer catches the kick, and runs over to score again for 2-0 at half time. My turn to kick off and his thrower is stunned by a rock, but no matter, another freakish human blitzer runs back to collect the ball, from where they do score a pretty good td for the 3-0 score. Again he got a blitz on the kickoff but my lizards were up to it this time and reduced to 3-1. For the next drive the humans powered down my flank, but my saurus knocked the ball free. Straight into the arms of that 5 ag freak again, who promptly scored. The 2-4 reducer was a fortunate drive though, my ball carrier was knocked down a square too far back to recover and run over, but his catcher tripped and dropped the ball that precious one square closer to the line for me. A little judicious pushing with blocks, a pickup and two gfi, and the score was made which kept the ff modifier at an even 0 for the match (good since the dice roll was 2)
“Carlton cemented their re-admission into the Premier Division in this blockbuster match against their opponents, also former Premier Leaguers and without a loss so far this season, Slumbering Skink.
With a 0/1/1 record against the Lizards, Carlton were keen to set the record straight and were quietly confident as always that their superiority would shine through tonight.
Skink won the toss and elected to receive. One can only imagine the pressure a young skink would feel looking up to see the likes of the Duke and Flash opposite and it is understandable that the Skink attack quickly came unstuck, as stunted as their players. Carlton's Superstars ran forward and quickly gained possession, prompting a midfield battle that lasted a good part of the half before our boys were able to break free and Bazman was able to score the opener. 1-0 Carlton!
Receiving again, Skink looked to each other with trepidation as one of their star Skinks remained in the KO box despite the magic salts they'd been sold before the game. Carlton were quick to take advantage and raced forward from the kickoff, Gordon 'Flash' Lau catching the kick and, despite decent pressure from the lizards, skipping it over the line just before the break. 2-0 Carlton at half time!
Now it was Carlton's turn to receive and they made short work of it. A long pass from the Duke to the steely sure hands of Bazman and Touchdown! 3-0 Carlton.
Both of the little Skink Stars were on the field now for the first time since the game kicked off and Slumbering seemed to be waking up some. Scrambling their way forward, the dodgy little lizards were too quick and nimble for the boys from United and effortlessly pulled a quick one back. 3-1 Carlton, and the Skinks were looking at a statistical chance at perhaps getting a couple of points out of this match yet.
Carlton were receiving again though and had far too many options going forward. The best option today proved to be Carlton's latest Star Blitzer, Gordon Lau, who put his second over the line with a little dance and a wave to his constantly growing cheer squad. 4-1 to Carlton and the points were theirs! Their fourth win of the season and with a bye in the final round, this founding Club was now on its way back to the Premier! There'd be some beer drunk in the small town of Carlton tonight!
The Skinks did manage to reduce the margin by another before the final siren, but nobody really cared. Mr. Swan had opened a keg in the changerooms and the boys barely found the time to shake the fists of their scaly opponents before GFI-ing their way to dugout.
