“We brought in an extra journeymen here to help us against opposing Humans, who have a lot of Catchers in their lineup.
We had a ropey start, with Justin Jones twice getting grasped at by opponents and our Sergeant soon KO'd by another Blitzer. But our Ogre Ivan cas'd a lino in response and a catcher was KO'd. But a Trollslayer double skull (loner!) blitz left us in trouble again and Jones was smashed down. Fortunately our Thrower Terent could recover the ball and just managed to escape for a TD.

But in the brief time left in the half we underestimated their carrier's speed, and the Catcher switched sides and raced away for an equalizer with the aid of his sure feet.

Second half we had a perfect defence kickoff but after moving players towards their carrier we were rushed past far too easily. The Humans took the lead, but couldn't stall too long as we got the pressure back, and Thorgut the Trollslayer injured their thrower.

Ivan managed another casualty, today his best performance yet, and a Dwarf caused a KO leaving us in a good place to equalize. Justin Jones doing the honours after the fellows blocking his path were bashed aside.

And so things looked great for the team from Stirland when they pulled off a handoff and catcher Isaac went up the flank, after a blitzer moved our widest man aside. But it was a risk to be right next to the rabid crowd. Our Sergeant blitzed a blitzer next to their carrier and then Jones was able to do an equal strength to chainpush a blitzer into their carrier and surf him! The ball was hurled near the centre of the pitch. One of their catchers picked up, but was tackled down by a Dwarf, as he tried to dodge away. He fell hard.. and died! No apo to help him. The Sergeant surfed another foe but Terent's first pass attempt was dropped. But in the final moments he picks up and pulls one off to the waiting Jones. Jones then at full speed scores the winner! 3-2.

Our players bashing got us through this one. We threw well over double the number of blocks of our despairing opposition and reaped the reward.
