What a game! A lot going on, so this one could be worth watching again.
Thunder was likely the slightly better team, though a disadvantage was having only 1 Tackle to deal with 5 blodge players. As a whole Wreckage also played better, and the game should have ended with a Thunder victory in full time. Now we had a full half of overtime shenanigans before it could be decided.
Vikings recieved first but faced a perfect defense. Then I forgot to move a Guard player before my very first blitz and didn´t get 2D - so off to a rocky start. We mostly pushed players around and got blitzer of our own KO´d so we moved to one side in hopes of pushing through. Thunder got sent off on a foul the following turn and gave us enough space to move the ball ahead, but we couldn´t keep it protected so we scored in turn 5.
Thunder has Austin and kept other scoring options open with Garopplo. We decided to focus on trying to break the way to the ball open, and we got to a 3+3+ for Joe Doe to smash the ball with 2D, but failed the first dodge. Some great blocking before opened up that chance. Thunder then superbly negated all chance of striking at the ball again, at the cost of allowing a blitz and foul of Austin, who took both parts.
Half time 1-1 and Thunder with the ball. Doe smashed Comms right away but Thunder answered with removing two of ours. Some fighting slowly saw Thunder gain the upper hand, and then Doe was hit by Buchanan and the game seemed lost. Then the ogre pro rerolled a block into double skulls, and our own ogre opened for a blitz of the ball. It went flying, and their star catcher Bresaz-Latil was killed but saved at the same time. Vikings couldn´t get the ball and for the final turn Austin had little opposition in swooping down the field with it.
A last minute attempt by Corey Fuller saw a great 1 turn TD throwing the game into overtime. Vikings recieve.
Thunder has a really good line to control the sides and Vikings didn´t punch for one side. In the following skirmish Garopplo side stepped several hits and could bring down Ryan Griffin and the ball was loose. Thankfully Thunder crashed on a dodge and Vikings got it back. Vikings surged ahead and were harried by the diving tackle at every moment, not getting any safe space, but still pushing ahead at an advantage.
No rerolls left and with the position becoming unstable, Dobbs handed off to Fuller who then only had to take 2 gfi to score and take home the championship. He crashed at the finish line.
Thunder secured the ball and in the final turn sent it all across the field for a last second touchdown by Garopplo again.
