First half the lizzies were made to receive in the pouring rain, the kick went deep and the Nurgle pressed immediately. However they pressed a little too hard and left a small gap on the right wing that Lacerta broke through with the ball. Medecins laid down several good blocks to open a route to the ballcarrier, one a 1d on a saurus, but then their luck failed with a snake dodge for a blitz on the ball carrier. The skink raced off and the lizzies managed to stall for a couple of turns, which led to some serious attrition on both sides. Firstly Medicins Legend ballcarrier Jacobson was tempted deep in pursuit of the skink, where he promptly got smashed by the Saurus Tarbo - broken ribs > regen fail. But that seemed to annoy the Nurgles, who then tripped and badly hurt a skink before injuring three sauri in four blocks - the two apos crucially saved two of them, but the third went out with a smashed hip. The lizzies scored and Medecins tried a counter in the two remaining turns, but were stopped on the right wing.
In the second half the lizzies had a brief chance to make it 2-0 when a beastman and rotter got isolated backfield near the ball, but the wiz was a damp squib. A long slugfest followed with the lizzies doing well to survive, knock the ball about and hold up the Nurgle advance. In the last turn with both sides out of rerolls, Medecins managed a couple of key blocks to clear two skink sidesteppers from marking the carrier (one with Diving Tackle), who then made two GFIs to force Overtime.
Nurgle won the toss and following those close chances in the second half and down a saurus, it felt ominous for the lizzies. They did get a blitz but the kick was deep. A chain push enabled a saurus to mark the ballcarrier deep, and briefly a double skulls by Medecins opened up a potential decisive score but the lizzies could only roll a crucial 1 break tackle in return. Another big scrum developed, the saurus stood pretty strong but then claw started to edge it... only for the skinks to finally save the day with some fortuitous dodges, followed by a key 1d blitz to push the ballcarrier out of TD range and mark with diving tacklers on the last turn (some good chainpush attempts notwithstanding). Cue the cointoss... finally one the lizzies won after two against on Overtimes so far in this UI. Great game, that was all that could separate these two sides at the end!”
