It began as a friendly meeting between a psyched up Butt-boys and a ravaged Treehuggers, in order to bring the Treehuggers back on track. They had been severely punished in an earlier game and it was a matter of life and death really. Either they pulled through this game without any losses and would thus be able to restock on well needed players.
Treehuggers started out as the receiving team and the Butt-boys lined up to stop the speedy elves. In the halflings' first team turn, Gluril was killed by Freethrikh Jellkandorr. The halflings snatched up the ball but managed to fumble it around on the mid field. Close to the end, Jellkandorr the Ogre grabbed Frossar-Frasse (who was holding the ball) and decided something had to be done. He chucked him way across the pitch, over the unsuspecting elves. Frasse landed safely near the end zone and could easily score a touch down.
Unfortunately something happened here... the referees called some sort of illegal procedure, and after a short break the coaches lined up their players in the positions they were right before the Ogre had thrown his team mate. When the Ogre tried to repeat the feat, he unintentionally injured number #13 and the ball went off to the elves instead, who scored a touch down in their 7th team turn.
The halflings were unable to create anything worthwhile of their final turn for the half, and it ended 0-1 with both #13 and #8 in the dug-out. Each with a gouged eye caused by careless ogre "friends". For those not familiar with the Butt-boys, these two halfling players are the stars of the team and the top scorers. Both are considerably more agile than the average halfling, and it severely hurt the finesse in the halflings' game not having them on pitch.
The second half was a flurry of halfling screw-ups and nimble elves, who managed to score 3 more touch-downs. The final two kick-offs had no more than 11 halfling players standing lined up, but a mere seven of the elves were in playing condition. In the final team turn of the Butt-boys, the play finally fell in place and even though Jellkandorr missed his throw by a mile, excellent halfling up and coming star player Curry Belchfoot landed with grace and could carry on scoring his second touchdown for the team.
Coach Phreedh was delighted with the performance of his team as a whole, but slightly dissapointed in the receivers who managed to fumble the ball on numerous ocassions, either when picking it up or handing it over to a runner.
Treehuggers' coach Ruxu was quite happy with his team as well, except for the fact that it had only eight players left to face the next opponent. Right after the game, he handed in the retirement papers for his team and took off with the match winnings and his sweet-heart Isil-Gar (the game's top scorer). I didn't know his bread was buttered that side, but then again... isn't that the case with most wood elves? Pansies, the lot of them!”
