“Fresh off tryouts, the elves of Latent Talent took the field against a team of halflings that looked about to break out, but not quite. A smattering of skills belied a team quietly hoarding SPP for what was to be a pretty awesome coming-out party in the future. Luckily, they hadn't cashed in yet so the elves felt confident they'd have a shot.

Oh wait, what's that smell? Is that... Concombre a la Menthe?

Only a few of the elves were fans, so we went into the first half with 2 RR. Went pretty well, too! The halflings tossed in a TD early in the first, with a thud and a scutter, but the elves responded with a longish drive and flawless dodging, without taking a single casualty.

Second half... but what is that new smell? Smoked duck confit a l'orange? Elves are wild for it!

Only one RR for the second half, but receiving. Kick is short. Pickup is a 1... RR gone! The halflings wisely move in for the kill, 7 RR to burn and a ball to steal. The tree bases the ball carrier... who trips when he dodges away! Now the crowd is very thick. The second attempt to pick up the ball is also a 1! The halflings storm in, hurting and stunning most of the elven team. They pick up the ball and hand it off to a catcher in scoring range! But the elves regain their composure and get key blocks, including a 3+ dodge without a RR to knock the ball loose, scoop it up, and run away. But the halflings are closing in - the hefty rushes to tag the ball for a possible blitz... but rolls too many 1s! The elves manage to get the ball downfield and score on T16. The OTTD goes off well at first, but the catcher lands cockeyed and spills it, leaving the elves with their first win.
