“It is with a heavy heart we had to watch our emerging star blitzer Menion die on the pitch today. The str 4/agi 4/frenzy maniac was working towards getting his next skill, causing cas, passing the ball, scoring, whatever it took. He was not to be denied--until today. Was it a crushing blow from a mummy which did him in? Did the enemy fans invade the pitch, taking Menion down through sheer force of numbers?

Nope. Menion simply had run in, picked up a loose ball in front of an enemy player, and dodged out to pass the ball forward to a teammate for an easy score. At least, that was the plan: instead, needing a 2+ roll to get away, he tripped and fell. Wait! Reroll! Tripped again. Fell, broke his own neck, died. Pow. That fast.

And where was the team doc, you might ask? So was the rest of the team asking that question, but unfortunately the undead had so many fans trying to get to the game that our team doc got stuck in traffic, and couldn't be there until the game was well and over. (Handicap roll.) He took a look and was able to piece the body back together in Menion II, but alas, the inner raging fire which drove Menion to such great heights was diminished to a smoldering ember, barely there. But alive he is, and his fellow blitzers have made it their mission in life to get him back up to the same spirit which had made him an emerging star, and once again complete the quartet that makes the Scions one of the best groups of blitzers in all of bloodbowl.

In honor of Menion's sacrifice, the team managed to pull together and scratch out a victory in the final turn of the game. Even Allanon, who'd almost fallen asleep as part of the team (sitting at 30 spp's for 6 or 7 games) managed to bring down the house on a mummy, earning his next skill and learning the finer points of helping his teammates out, hoping to avoid losing another of his "little brothers". We tried to explain to him Menion wasn't killed by a hit from an opposing player, but the bone-head won't listen. Oh, well, maybe he'll take out his anger on future opponents...



Schalburg played a fair and honest match, making me earn both of my scores through some good hard playing. Give him a game, you'll be glad you did.”
